The kids colored a picture of the inside of the earth

Imprinted wax as an example of things being liquid when they are hot, but solid when cold.

And then played with cornstarch and water to show how a liquid can become hard when it's under pressure (like the solid inner core of the earth)

The theme of the science day is supposed to coordinate with our Friday field trips. For the Friday field trip we were supposed to go to Radium Springs. So we also talked about how the hot inside of the earth heats the water and you can get hot springs. This was a great plan, however, there were 2 problems when we went there. 1)They closed the park the day before and 2) The town is called Radium Springs, the place we were going in the town, Leasburg Dam. That is right, it was a dam and not a hot springs and it was not even open. FAIL!
Not all was wasted, however, as the ward temple trip in Albuquerque was to be the next day and the field trip was just a stop on the way. We continued to Albuquerque and stayed at the air force lodging with our friends (the husbands came up together after work) and got to enjoy the temple the next day. That way we could rotate attending and kid watching (as leaving a breastfeeding infant for a full day is not very feasible). It was a great to be able to attend the temple and enjoy time with friends. We finished it all off with lunch at 5 guys before heading home, which is always a good way end things!

And as for the pictures that cannot be enlarged. It is actually not from my blog format, but because I grabbed them from my friends blog who actually took pictures, so I just made them larger in the post.

This does look like fun. It's great that you were all able to go on the temple trip, too.
Hey are you homeschooling? Looks like you guys have a lot of fun!
