Where we live, you don'ts see tons of flowers (except when the poppies come out), so you have to celebrate those you do get to enjoy. One of the greatest surprises last year was when the ground cover along the back of the house we lived in burst into a display of pink flowers. It is probably one of the more remarkable ground covers I have ever seen because
1. It has survived being at a rent house, meaning years of negelect. You can see the the yard has not been generally taken care of from the state of much of the "hard lanscaping" like the roses, honeysuckle, and boganvalia that were all either dead or half dead when we moved in. Yet some how in a climate that little survives in - it is still going strong.
2. It gets almost full shade. The sun protection may explain why it manages to survive, but I have never seen a full shade plant the blooms so profusely.
3. It can handle the soil here and is every green in mild winters, though it does die back a bit in colder ones like this year (but returns in full force once it warms).
Anyway it is beautiful and remarkable and if anyone has any idea what it is, I would love to know.

Bridget....those are Morning Glorys. There are several varieties. Now that you know....you can google it and see. Some look different than the ones you have...but the greenery is the same. I love the title of your post....love the poem, loved the book, and love the music John Rutter wrote to go with the words. Lovely photos!!
How exciting your sunflowers are blooming! Ours are about knee high. The flowers are gorgeous and it is always a surprise to find flowers at rental homes. I am always planting some but not usually finding any.
Very pretty. My interest is peaked with the idea that they will bloom for even the laziest gardener. (Me.)
Morning Glory is fun. They have a weed version that is pretty impossible to kill, the flowers are smaller and the ground cover kills everything it touches. The flower version is really pretty though
