In a letter written to her son John Wesley Susanna Wesley said,
"Take this rule: whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off your relish of spiritual things; in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over your mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may be in itself."
-- Susanna Wesley (Letter, June 8, 1725)
I have decided attempting to get pictures of my children is sin to me.

Your family is beautiful, even if you can't capture that moment when they're all smiling. :) Yours are more fun than those "perfect" family pictures anyway!
great quote. where did you run across it?
You gotta laugh, someday they will laugh too when they see how difficult they were.
Susannah had 19 children including the one you cite; founder of Methodism. Here is a letter she wrote to her husband.
To her absent husband, Susannah Wesley wrote:
I am a woman, but I am also the mistress of a large family. And though the superior charge of the souls contained in it lies upon you, yet in your long absence I cannot but look upon every soul you leave under my charge as a talent committed to me under a trust. I am not a man nor a minister, yet as a mother and a mistress I felt I ought to do more than I had yet done. I resolved to begin with my own children; in which I observe, the following method: I take such a proportion of time as I can spare every night to discourse with each child apart. On Monday I talk with Molly, on Tuesday with Hetty, Wednesday with Nancy, Thursday with Jacky, Friday with Patty, Saturday with Charles.
PS, where is Manu's matching outfit? :) I liked the mother daughter skirts.
Hi, Bridget! I check in with your blog every now and then, but after being with Juliet this weekend I miss your family! So here I am. And I'm laughing because I can completely relate. In an attempt to save funds at Christmas I attempted timer shot photos. . .on a Fast Sunday. That basically ended up a bad idea gone very bad. I'm glad that you have a sense of humor--that will be a great legacy for your own children.
Amusing collage. Lots of goods ones down below thought. The clothes turned out very nicely. I especially liked the sparkly tulle coming out from Teah's skirt.
LOL! They are adorable though!
We use that quote all the time - it's actually on our fridge. I never imagined it in this context. I had a good laugh. They are still cute though!
Really cute pictures, fun experiences to be remembered in the years to come. You do have a darling family.
You have a gorgeous family and these pictures are great. I love the matching outfits and variety of expressions! Priceless! Keep on sinning!
Yeah...I saw that picture perfect profile on your facebook. I knew there had to be more to that story! :) Your kids are adorable and you're beautiful. Only you could keep up!
Love you!
