Last monday we were supposed to do gingerbread houses. I was going to make them sunday night so they would be set and ready , but I found I was lacking in ingredients so it got pushed back to tonight. The recipe I used made 6 houses (I didn't do really big ones), so we invited another family to join us. Unfortunately they had a child who ended up sick so we just decorated all 6 and figured we could give some to people. Each of the kids did there own to keep and Manu and I both did 2 that we could give away. We found, however, that our gingerbread house decorating skills are a bit lack luster, so we may just keep them all. We can blame it on the kids, right? And we had fun and that is what matters!
PS If anyone is interested, I did find a ginger bread dough I really liked - it was really easy to work with and did not require floury messes to keep from sticking every where.

From left to right
Dad, Teah, Mom
(you have to love the classic 4 year old yard - just fit as much candy in there as possible - and yes she did try to pile it even higher, but we suggest that the yard was a little bit overfilled)

(and yes Zanders already has a lot of missing candy as well as a half eaten chocolate covered cherry)

They all look yummy!!! Good job everyone. What is your gingerbread recipe? Happy holidays!!
That is so good you made the gingerbread, they are so much cuter that way and I think they look good enough to give away. I laughed when I saw Teah's yard.
I think T has the proper outlook on life:
1. No door to enter
2. No inviting walk way
3. Only candy high, high, high
I believe the candy will be replaced with chocolate and clothes by 12yrs
Cute! I did notice the missing candy on Zander's house right away.
